Sony Xperia ZL owners can finally grab the much-anticipated Android 4.2.2 update thanks to an official OTA rollout from Sony.

The firmware, build 10.3.A.0.423, is currently available for the European LTE model C6503, HSPA+ version C6502, and North American variant C6506 Xperia ZLs. As with all OTA rollouts, availability will vary by region and wireless provider. For those who aren't interested in waiting, the Android 4.2.2 Xperia ZL update can be snagged through Flashtool, as explained by XperiaBlog.

The update brings a number of changes alongside the bump up in the version of Android. Sony has included a new customizable navigation bar with quick settings, new widget functionalities both in and out of the lockscreen, and a nice patch that allows the Xperia ZL to accept 64GB SD cards for added memory. A new security feature known as My Xperia allows users to locate and even lock their phone remotely.

The Sony Xperia ZL is a cousin of the more prolific Xperia Z. While it sports similar specs, the Xperia ZL is not dustproof or waterproof, opting for a slimmer, more aesthetic design instead.

In other Sony Xperia news, Xperia Z owners will soon be getting their taste of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean goodness. The update should begin rolling out sometime in July, although a leaked build has been making its rounds on the Internet for those interested.
