Apple recently revealed the next big update for its iOS platform, iOS 7, to much fanfare at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. Here's what Apple wants you to know about iOS 7 in its promotional video:

New Design: The most striking change will be the new look. Apple has redesigned the entire aesthetic, bringing in new colors, as well changing the look icons and typography. iOS 7 also layers upon itself, giving the experience a transparent, semi-3-D feel with depth. This "Parallax" effect even follows the users eyes as the phone is held at different angles, much like Mona Lisa's eyes. iOS 7 will essentially utilize more screen space than previous versions.

Control Center: Android users have long had their version of this, but an easy-to-access settings menu will finally land on Apple devices in iOS 7. Users can simply swipe up from the bottom and access a number of important functions such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio settings, Airplane mode, and more. The Notifications center is also accessible straight from the lockscreen in iOS 7.

Multitasking: Mobile operating systems severely lack the multitasking abilities of desktops, and it looks like Apple is finally paying attention to the cries of consumers. iOS 7 redesigns multitasking, making it easy to scroll through open apps. The operating system even takes notice of which apps you use most, and attempts to keep them updated. It's not the solution, but it looks like a step in the right direction.

iTunes Radio: Apple's answer to Pandora-esque services, this is exactly what it sounds like.

Airdrop: This nifty new feature allows iOS 7 users to quickly share data with contacts near by. While it's not as "bump-and-go" as NFC, Airdrop dramatically increases the ease with which iOS users can share files with friends.

Other improvements to iOS 7 include a new camera mode, a Near Me function that will give you tailored apps based on your location, a redesigned Safari browser, and a more intelligent Siri.

iOS 7 is scheduled to release in the fall, although developers can already grab beta softwares at developer.Apple.com

What's your favorite new feature in Apple's iOS 7?
