The BlackBerry Z10 may not have the QWERTY-based nostalgic effect the Q10 exudes, the full touchscreen BlackBerry smartphone has proven to be a successful reentry for BlackBerry. Any one of the numerous Z10 owners who purchased the handset with T-Mobile are now being rewarded with a nice bump up to BlackBerry 10.1.
T-Mobile announced that a BlackBerry 10.1 update for the Z10 would begin rolling out over the air June 10. As with all updates, the rollout will be staggered, and T-Mobile explains that the update might not reach your handset until June 21. Those who wish to grab BlackBerry 10.1 themselves can do so by downloading the update via the BlackBerry Link software. The update will boost the software version up to 10.1.0.2025 and is only applicable to Z10s running 10.0.10.672.
According to T-Mobile, " This update improves device performance, provides additional security, and resolves several known issues."
Some of the new features are HD Voice functionality, more enterprise security through Corporate Liable, increased smartcard support. The update also brings BlackBerry Balance, a mode which allows Z10 users to separate work and personal accounts on their phones.
The update also improves battery life, cursor control, and device restarting.
