Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera, with all the achievements he has, isn't comfortable dealing with disappointments.
On Sunday, Cabrera pulled off something quite gross even in a baseball game. After seeing hurler Jose Alvarez's no-bid hitter getting foiled by a solo homer from Cleveland Indians slugger Ryan Ruburn in the fifth inning, Cabrera gave a 'sticky' gift to his former teammate by tossing his chewing gum into Ruburn's chest as he rounded third base.
Instead being mad about it, Ruburn replied with a little smile as he jogged home base to give the Tribe their lone run in a 4-1 loss to the Tigers.
Cabrera, who's currently the leading voting-getter for the American League All-Star squad, is apparently joking around with Ruburn, who spent five seasons with the Tigers before signing a deal with the Indians this offseason.
Cabrera is batting .363 with 17 home runs and 67 RBIs, putting him in great position to book a second straight Triple Crown season. On the other hand, Ruburn is compiling a very solid year with his new team as he is averaging .292 at the plate with 7 homers and 20 RBIs.
It has been a remarkable so far for the Tigers, who's currently on top of the AL Central with 35-26 record and have at least five players in contention for a spot in the All-Star team.
In the latest All-Star voting return, Cabrera led all American League players with 2,355,128 votes, more than a million ahead of Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado with 1, 170, 108 votes.
Outfielder Toril Hunter (1,067,973 votes), second baseman Omar Infante (621,202 votes), first baseman Prince Fielder and shortstop Jhonny Peralta are all within striking distance to secure a place in the All-Star team in their respective positions.
