Rafael Nadal's quest for his 8th French Open title resumes roughly 48 hours after his epic five-set showdown with world's no.1 Novak Djokovic.

Facing the "King of Clay" will be his compatriot and long-time friend David Ferrer, who's coming off of an easier semifinal win against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, which could be a factor heading into the finals.

After 15 days of energy-zapping Grand Slam tennis action, the 2013 French Open comes down to only two men, and ironically, they are both Spaniards.

On Sunday, the matadors of the clay-court will take center stage for the right to hoist one of the most prestigious trophies in tennis history: the Musketeers Trophy.

Without any doubt, Nadal enters the championship game as the heavy favorite over Ferrer, whom he defeated 19 out of 23 career matches.

However, fatigue and the wear-and-tear his surgically-repaired knee absorbed during his action-packed battle with Djokovic could make a big difference against a much fresher Ferrer.

Ferrer, who last defeated Nadal in the preliminary stage of the Tennis Masters Cup in 2007, has been in cruise control in the past two weeks without dropping a single set so far heading into Saturday's championship match.

Though Nadal is a more skillful player, Ferrer's hunger for a Grand Slam title could be his drive to break the cloak of invincibility of his much celebrated compatriot.

Unlike many analysts have predicted, the upcoming Nadal-Ferrer clash will be competitive with the game going into a deciding set very much a possibility.

The French Open men's singles finals will take place Sunday at  9:00 a.m Eastern Time (NBC Coverage).
