Respawn Entertainment, the development team comprised of ex-Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 developers, has successfully kept its latest project under wraps until now. Titanfall, the virgin studio's first release, is a first person shooter which aims to integrate mech combat with the more traditional ground combat on the Xbox One, PC, and Xbox 360, according to a leaked GameInformer cover on NeoGAF's forums. Respawn is working on the next-generation iteration of the game, while an outside studio crafts the 360 version for a spring 2014 release date.

The mechs, known as 'Titans' will reportedly "feel fast" and serve as worthy adversaries to the agile ground troops, called pilots. As shown in the magazine's cover image, pilots can incapacitate Titans by destroying their control center. The tone of the world will mimic Blade Runner and District 9, reports Gamespot. As per tradition, the team will maintain a buttery-smooth 60 frames-per-second on its Source Engine-powered game. The NegoGAF post notes that one of Respawn's goals is to "integrate memorable single player moments into a multiplayer game." We shall see how the studio plans to execute on these lofty goals shortly.

Respawn is expected to host the grand cinematic debut of Titanfall at EA's E3 2013 press conference, which takes place at 1 PM (PT) on Monday, June 10. The studio was conceived after a dispute over bonuses between Activision and Infinity Ward leads Vince Zampella and Jason West resulted in their dismissal from the company. Following the firings, dozens of Infinity Ward employees voluntarily quit, and joined with West and Zampella in their new studio, Respawn. EA Games, perhaps Activision's biggest rival, agreed to publish Titanfall back in 2011.
