Sony Xperia Z US Release Date: Smartphone Shows Up In T-Mobile Support Docs Ahead Of Launch

It looks like the Sony Xperia Z will be hitting U.S. shores anytime now. While carriers still have not revealed an exact release date, the Xperia Z is now showing up in T-Mobile's support documents online.

Thanks to the astute folks over at G4Games, Xperia Z fans can see above that T-Mobile has started listing support documents for the smartphone. The documents, however, cannot be perused by the public, and require a login to view. The sighting does, however, lend more credence to the fact that the Xperia Z will be landing on T-Mobile's network.

It wasn't too long ago that the Xperia Z passed through the FCC with the same LTE bands that T-Mobile uses, but the real question is whether other carriers will try to offer the handset. AT&T is rumored to be interested, as the carrier does have a history with Sony, but luckily it shouldn't be too long before all is revealed.

"We will make an announcement about the Xperia Z with a carrier very shortly," said Sony CEO Kaz Hirai at the recent D11 executive conference hosted by AllThingsD.

Sony executive Phil Molyneux backed up Hirai, saying that an announcement will be made in the next few weeks.

Sadly, the Xperia Z doesn't support CDMA networks at the moment, meaning Verizon and Sprint customers will probably be left out of the loop.

The Sony Xperia Z comes with a 5-inch 1080p display, 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB memory, and a 13-megapixel camera. The smartphone is also waterproof and dustproof, and comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
