Yahoo! Inc. has updated their search engine results for U.S. users.
"Whether you're searching for that perfect summer vacation spot or a nearby Ethiopian restaurant, finding what you're looking for should be fast and easy. And, we think that it can also be beautiful," stated Yahoo's Senior Vice President Laurie Mann on its Tumblr account. "Today we're excited to introduce a new, modern design for web search in the U.S. that puts your results front and center."

According to Mann, search results will appear higher on its pages along with faster loading times. The update is also a move to have the results page appear similar to the Yahoo! homepage.
"When it comes to search, nothing should stand between you and your results."
The Yahoo senior vice president also teased future updates.
"Over the coming months, you'll see more from Yahoo! as we work to deliver a search experience that combines utility with beauty and gets you to your results faster," concluded Mann. "Today's news is just our first step."
The update comes after the highly publicized acquisition of social media website Tumblr late last month for $1.1 billion. The high price of the purchase was considered surprising by many, as Tumblr made just $13 million in revenue for 2012, according to Forbes.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer explained the company's reasoning in buying Tumblr: "[The acquisition] allows us to engage both demographics with the other companies. We can bring some of the exciting content to Yahoo or we can bring some of the users of Yahoo to Tumblr."
