The highly anticipated sequel to Dark Souls may be appearing sometime in March of next year, according to Kotaku. The report shows a billboard in Los Angeles featuring Dark Souls 2 with the subtitle March 2014, indicating that the game could be released at that time. However, this leads to new questions as to what systems the game will be coming to, based on its release date.
The billboard seems to be an early advertisement before the E3 expo, set to begin June 9, in Los Angeles. With so many games and next-gen consoles set to be at the event, it makes sense for Namco Bandai to start spreading the word as soon as possible to make Dark Souls 2 stand out among the crowd.
Will Dark Souls 2 be coming out for next-gen consoles? That is the new big question coming from this billboard reveal, as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are expected out by the end of the year, several months before Dark Souls 2 is expected to be released. So far, the game is only confirmed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, according to a Namco Bandai Australian spokesman who spoke to Gamestop.
Darks Souls is the sequel to the notorious difficult Dark Souls released in 2011 and developed by From Software. Dark Souls itself is the spiritual successor to the equally difficult Demon Souls, which came out in 2009. Both action RPG's are known for their excellent gameplay, however the steep difficulty turned many gamers away from the game. That did not stop the game from becoming successful, as players challenge themselves and their friends trying to conquer the game's many monsters battles.
Dark Souls 2 is an intriguing game no matter what systems it appears on, and figures to have a dedicated following on current or next-gen systems. Look out for more Dark Souls 2 at E3.
