Best Buy is distributing free iPhone 5's today as part of a trade-in program with another Apple smartphone.
Customers can bring their iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S for a $150 trade-in credit for the latest Apple smartphone. According to CNET, customers will, however, pay for any applicable sales tax and potential activations fees with their respective mobile carrier.
With the trade-in for the iPhone 5, customers have to be eligible for an upgrade and sign a new two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon Wireless.
The deal is not available online, therefore customers must visit their nearest Best Buy retailer.
The one-day offer comes as the retailer previously discounted the iPhone by $50 when agreeing on a new two-year contract. The $50 offer, however, was not limited to the iPhone 5 but was valid for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S too. The deal will last for another three weeks following its start on May 26. The 8GB variant of the iPhone 4 is not included in the offer.
According to AllThingsD, the retailer is also offering discounts to Apple's rival gadgets. Until today, Best Buy will offer Samsung's Galaxy S3 for $49, which is $50 off from the original two-year contract price when signing with AT&T or Sprint. The HTC Droid DNA will also be available for $49 when signing with Verizon Wireless, a savings of $150. Finally, the HTC One X is free when signing with AT&T.
