Microsoft's Surface Pro tablet continues to evolve, with its latest iteration making a debut in Japan, this time sporting a 256GB hard drive and a complimentary copy of Microsoft Office 2013 and a pressure sensitive pen.
According to a PCWorld report, the company has not announced any plans to bring these upgrades to North America; however, Microsoft's commitment to updating the device suggests that such a change is not so far-fetched. The 256GB model translates to about $1,175, according to the site.
The latest office has generally been received favorably, with critics praising the software's cloud integration, although some suggest that free online resources such as Google Docs already provide such functionality for free.
In other recent Office news, the iOS and Android versions of the software have reportedly been delayed until fall of 2014 due to pricing issues.
The traditional Office Standard costs $369, while Office Professional Plus 2013 is priced at $499. Undergrads and doctoral students may want to check out Office Home & Student 2013 for $139.99. Meanwhile, Home and Business is priced at $219.99, and Office Professional 2013 runs $399.99. As for Office 365 Home Premium, consumers can nab the software bundle for $8.33/month. Office 365 Small Business Premium will be priced at $12.50/month, 365 University at $3.30/month, 365 Midsize Business at $15/month, and 365 Enterprise & Government at $20/month.
