The iPhone 5S is coming. This time, however, Apple reportedly plans to further step up its resolution game. The latest rumor, which suggests that the 5S will double the iPhone 5's screen resolution while maintaining a 4-inch display to 1.5 million pixels, comes by the way of Chinese publication Weiphone, by the way of Apple Insider. The source also indicates a September release date of the handset's next model.
Past reports indicated that the iPhone 5S, or perhaps the iPhone 6 will usher in the iOS 7 operating system. A curved HD display, Near-Field-Communication (NFC), and eight color variations are also expected. Details remain sparse, as do release dates, although the Cupertino-based company has abided by a yearly release schedule in recent memory.
The current iPhone 5 model is feather light and sports the new A6 dual-core processor, with a 4-inch screen with Retina display. Consumers who opt for a two-year contract with Sprint, AT&T, or Verizon have the option of a 16GB iPhone 5 at $199, a 32GB at $299.99, and a 64GB at $399.99. Unlocked phones sans-contract cost $649, 749, and $849 for each respective size.
