On Wednesday, Twitter released an update for its app on both Android and iOS. With the update, Twitter is promising the ability to tweet a photo in just six seconds. And they, of course, had just the Twitter application (the 6 second Vine) to show you how it's done.
To add photo to your tweet, there's a camera and gallery icon at the bottom of the tweet box. Clicking the gallery icon will make photos appear in a full preview - not just the cropped version - when you add it to your tweet now. Check out Twitter's vine video for a very brief how-to demonstration.
With the update, you also get to see your account and your avatar in a tab on the right side, "giving you a better sense of how your Tweet will actually appear," according to Twitter's blog. That will also make other operations that are available both on Twitter's website and their apps easier and more intuitive, as you switch between both. For example, checking direct messages will be easier on the app, since the DM icon looks the same and is in the same place as on your account tab. Switching between multiple accounts should be even simpler now too.
Along with the camera and photo gallery icons at the bottom of the tweet dialogue, there's a location button, so if you feel like adding where you are on a whim, it's easy - no need to go into settings.
A few other minor updates include richer notifications for the Android app, which include details about your interactions with others on Twitter in your notifications drawer. The iPhone Twitter app has also lost the boarders around timelines, making tweets fill the screen and creating a uniformity of design between the Android and iPhone versions of Twitter's app. You'll probably get an option to update the app soon, but if you want to do it right now, go to the iTunes App Store or Google Play to download it.
