Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners everywhere could be getting a welcome Android 4.2.2 update in the coming month. If a previous report holds true, the rollout should begin quite soon.
It was only a couple weeks ago that well-known Samsung-centric website SamMobile tweeted this:
Android 4.2.2 for high-range devices from June #sgs3 #note2
— SamMobile (@SamMobiles) May 10, 2013
"Android 4.2.2 for high-range devices from June #sgs3 #note2," said SamMobile, referring to the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Samsung devices.
Ten days later, SamMobile happened to get their hands on an Android 4.2.2 test build for the Galaxy S3. The build showed that Samsung was indeed putting the finishing touches on Android 4.2.2 softwares. While none of this has been confirmed by Samsung, a June release seems likely if the build follows its development schedule. An Android 4.2.2 update would also allow owners of older Samsung devices access to Samsung's new interfaces.
Samsung's next Android update is said to include many of the nifty features found in the Galaxy S4. Some of these have already been spotted in the leaked Galaxy S3 build, and if history serves as a sign post, then the Galaxy Note 2 should expect to receive them as well. Samsung ported over many popular Galaxy Note 2 features, like Multi-View, over to the Galaxy S3 in an update, and it isn't a stretch the company will do the same with Galaxy S4 specialties.
The Android 4.2.2 udpate will come with the usual security enhancements and bug fixes, an improved Google Now, the 360-degree panorama camera option Photo Sphere, and the ability to wirelessly stream content to an HDTV. Samsung will also pile on improvements to its own software, such as S-Voice.
