Consumers interested in owning a Galaxy S4 device, but are turned off by the size have something to look forward to in the coming month - the Galaxy S4 Mini. A new report states that the device will indeed be shown off at Samsung's June 20 "Premiere 2013" event.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Galaxy S4 Mini will indeed be making an appearance at the Samsung event.
"A person with knowledge of the matter told The Wall Street Journal that the S4 Mini is likely to be one of the several new products the company plans to launch at the event next month at London's Earl's Court exhibition center," The Wall Street Journal wrote.
Samsung hasn't officially confirmed its lineup for Premier 2013, but the report falls just in line with the company's previous behavior. The Galaxy S3 Mini was announced and launched after the Galaxy S3 this year, building off the flagship's success as a cheaper, smaller variant. Samsung will most likely do the same with the Galaxy S4 Mini, keeping the handset mid-range.
Specs for the device have also leaked on to the Internet. German website All About Samsung recently posted screenshots of the handset's AnTuTu benchmarks. If the specs listed are indeed true, then the Galaxy S4 Mini will be coming with a 4.3-inch screen at a qHD resolution of 540X960, giving it around 240 pixels per inch (GSMArena points out this could be an error, since a 4.3-inch display with a qHD resolution should push out 256 pixels per inch). The benchmarks also show the Galaxy S4 Mini will have 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, a Snapdragon 400 processor, and Android 4.2.2.
As usual, until Samsung officially confirms any of this, exercise skepticism.
