Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs Rumors: New Camera to Include Optical Image Stabilization

It looks like Samsung is gearing up to make its next Galaxy Note phablet a real powerhouse again. The latest rumor to hit the mill is that the Galaxy Note 3 will feature some nifty optical image stabilization (OIS) features.

According to a report from Etnews, Samsung is really researching how to make the Galaxy Note 3's camera a fixture on the smartphone scene. The report states that the Galaxy Note 3 camera will not only have a 13 megapixel camera, but a number of new technologies such as OIS and some to combat other photographical annoyances like shutter smear. The video capabilities will also allegedly been significantly boosted. 

Bear in mind that none of this has been confirmed, but it's not necessarily news that Samsung is working hard at its next flagship handset's camera. Samsung has repeatedly touted its smartphones' cameras, and for good reason - they are some of the best. While smartphone cameras can arguably never completely replace a point-and-shoot, people are increasingly using their smartphones as their primary camera. Samsung has paid attention to this, and their recent launch, the Galaxy S4, shows a number of camera improvements (following a rather stellar Galaxy S3 camera) to support this.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is rumored to be sporting a 6-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, accompanied by Samsung's eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor and 3GB of RAM. Even the GPU is said to contain eight cores, meaning this will be one powerful handset (and if the report above is correct, one capable camera) when it releases. Expect the latest version of Android to come installed out of the box. There's been no suggestion so far that Samsung will introduce a revamped S Pen electronic stylus with the phablet, like it did with the Galaxy Note 2 last year.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 should hit retail shelves in the fall, giving Samsung momentum and taking away from Apple's prolific fall offerings going into the holiday season.
