Apple may be increasing its third-party social network presence with iOS 7.
9to5Mac has reported an overhaul for Apple's iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone mobile platform that may come with Flickr and Vimeo. In a move seen in 2011, users could see Flickr and Vimeo integrated with iOS 7's built-in settings, similar to how Facebook and Twitter are applied on the current mobile operating system.
In regards to Flickr, Apple device owners will have the capability to share and store photos taken with their device from the system-wide share menu. According to the report, while Flickr has been included into the paid iPhoto App Store app and the Mac OS X Mountain Lion since last year, iOS 7 will mark the first time the photo-sharing app is integrated into an entire iOS platform. But the addition of Flickr is considered unsurprising, as the company continues to increase collaboration with Yahoo Inc.
For Vimeo, it will give Apple and its users a second video-sharing app after YouTube. Since the debut of iOS 6, YouTube is no longer a pre-installed app. And the addition of Vimeo could certainly boost the video-sharing app's popularity. Vimeo has already been integrated with the Mac OS X Mountain Lion since 2012.
Apple has not confirmed any of the Flickr-Vimeo integration plans for the iOS 7 yet, and the concept could be removed once the new mobile operating system rolls out.
iOS 7 is expected to debut at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco next month, where over 1,000 Apple engineers will present more than 100 technical sessions from deploying, developing, and integrating technologies for the Cupertino-based organization.
"Our developers have had the most prolific and profitable year ever, and we're excited to show them the latest advances in software technologies and developer tools to help them create innovative new apps," said Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller in April.
"We can't wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into their hands at WWDC."
Latinos Post will provide coverage on the latest developments from the WWDC from June 10 to 14.
