The Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro is officially coming to the United Kingdom starting next week.
The U.K. was confirmed to receive the Surface with Windows 8 Pro a couple months ago, but a specific date has finally been revealed. The 64GB and 128GB tablets will be available for purchase starting May 23.
As for prices, the estimated retail cost for the 64GB tablet will be £719 while the 128GB tablet will run £799. When the prices are converted to the U.S. dollar, the 64GB comes out to $1,096 and the 128GB to $1,218. The converted prices are higher than the actual U.S. retail price of 4$899 for the 64GB model and $999 for the 128GB variant.
The Surface with Windows 8 Pro will be available online at the U.K. Microsoft Store.
"The response to Surface RT has already been great to see," said UK Surface Lead Robert Epstein. "There has been strong anticipation for Surface Pro in the U.K. and we're excited to be able to offer people a fully blown Windows 8 PC packed with powerful processing features in the innovative Surface design."
The U.K. launch of the Surface with Windows 8 Pro comes as Austria, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland are set to receive the tablet at the end of this month.
The release will follow a firmware update that rolled out for the Surface with Windows 8 Pro this week.
As Latinos Post reported, the International Data Corporation (IDC) stated Microsoft shipped 900,000 units of the Surface tablet. The unit figures equate to 1.8 percent of the first-quarter market share for 2013. The percentage represents both Surface with Windows RT and Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets, however, IDC noted most of the shipments were of the latter.
