Ubisoft recently revealed in their latest financial report that the company has enjoyed a very successful financial year, but Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot wants more. In his statements prepared for the financial report, he stated that Ubisoft will put out even more games in their core franchises and original IP's, due to player demand and the resources available to the global company.
"We believe that our major production capacity, strong of a network of 26 international studios and over 7,000 developers, now optimized with our lead and associate organization, will allow us to come with an enhanced pipeline of increasingly high quality franchises and new IPs,"
Many franchises, such as Assassin's Creed and Just Dance already enjoy yearly releases, and now it appears other Ubisoft titles like Splinter Cell and Far Cry could experience the same release schedules. This can be a good thing if the quality of games is strong, but could lead to fan fatigue and a watering down of quality as developers have less time to refine their product.
Guillemot also revealed that he believes that core gamers are "starving" for the next gen consoles to be released. The eight year gap between new console releases has caused demand for the upcoming consoles to skyrocket, and this will leave Ubisoft in a perfect position to take advantage of this. The CEO also claimed that the new social aspects of the PlayStation 4 and the next gen Xbox will help gamers express themselves more than they ever have before.
"We live in a world of self-expression. Everywhere, everyone is creative and wants to add value...Customization, or curating, is a huge growth area across all services and that holds true for games. People want to play in their own way, they want to define their own experience and they want to share the way they're playing."
