New rumors say the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will run a dual-core Exynos 5210 processor and an 8-megapixel camera.
Not much is known about the Exynos 5210. The version in the Galaxy S4 Mini is apparently clocked at 1.6GHz. However, some reports suggest the Exynos 5210 is basically half an Exynos 5 Octa, with two A7 cores and two A15 cores.
The A7s run most of the time to conserve energy, and the A15s take over when more power is needed.
Of course, these are just rumors, and the source seems a bit suspect. The report from Samsung and Korea Investment & Securities has a few obvious errors, including the assertion that the Galaxy S4 Mini will run Android 4.0, a build that is already obsolete.
And some of the specs provided for the Mini seem overly similar to the Galaxy S3. It's possible Samsung is basically repacking the S3 as a mid-tier Galaxy S4. In terms of specs, that's basically what it is, and the Mini line has older and slower tech than the full-size counterpart.
In any case, the Galaxy S4 Mini will probably run the same operating system as the Galaxy S4, so aside from a smaller screen, the user experience is likely to be almost the same, particularly for people who won't notice the difference between a cutting-edge processor and a mid-range one.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will likely come in several versions featuring either a quad-core or dual-core 1.6GHz Exynos 5210 processor, single or dual SIMs, a 4.3-inch 960x540 Super AMOLED display, 1GB of RAM (perhaps 2GB in the LTE model), an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz UX interface.
