A teaser posted to YouTube last night appears to show the PS4 hardware, alongside some rather catching if somewhat creepy illuminated eyeballs. Unfortunately, since it was released, Sony has confirmed that it is not an official production, leading many to believe that it may be the work of a very passionate fan.

The video is titled "Reveal PlayStation 4 PS4 E3 2013," and has a number of men and women staring into the camera with the PlayStation's button symbols emblazoned on their eyes. Most interestingly, the video features snippets of what appears to be the PS4 hardware. It's unlikely that they are official images, as Sony has debunked the entire teaser, but it's still an intriguing mock-up of the system, which has yet to be officially unveiled.

The PS4 was announced back in February, but surprisingly, the console itself was not pictured or presented. It is likely that it will be shown off at this year's E3. Sony's E3 presentation is set to take place on Monday, June 10.

Previously we learned that the PS4 would feature entirely new hardware including a dedicated GPU, 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, a CPU with eight x86-64 cores, and a Blu-ray optical drive.

It will also feature a new controller, the DualShock 4, which features two-point clickable touch pad on the front of the controller, as well as a Share button which allows players to upload screenshots and videos from inside a game to Facebook, Twitter, and streaming video sources. The PlayStation 4 will not be compatible with the DualShock 3.

The PlayStation 4 is expected to be released sometime late this year, although a solid release date has not been set.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has yet to reveal their own next-gen hardware, although a unveiling event has been set for the end of May. Current rumors point towards an end-of-the-year release to compete with the PlayStation 4.
