The Nokia Lumia 928 has been confirmed, and Verizon Wireless will serve as the exclusive carrier come May 16.
The new Windows Phone 8 smartphone will cost $99.99 when signing a two-year contract with the carrier, however, ZDNet has confirmed the full price will be $499.99. The full price is considered to be a "great deal" due to its specifications, which many have speculated to be a spinoff of the Lumia 920.
The Lumia 928 and Lumia 920 do share similar features, but the differences are evident.
Starting with the similarities, the two Windows Phone 8 smartphones have a 4.5-inch display with 1,280x768 pixels. The Lumia 928 and Lumia 920 are available with 32GB internal storage with 1GB of RAM and no card microSD card slot.
As for the wireless connectivity parallels, the two smartphones connect to Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and a microUSB version 2.0.
When it comes to the photography, the rear-facing cameras both have 8 megapixels with 3,264x2,448 pixels with Carl Zeiss optics. The front-facing camera has 1.3 megapixels. The smartphones can also record at 1080p at 30 frames per second.
According to GSMArena, both Windows Phone 8 smartphones have the same dual-core 1.5GHz krait processor.
The Lumia 920 and Lumia 928 also share the same battery capacity at 2,000mAh, however, it doesn't provide the same hours of standby and talk time service.
The Lumia 928 offers up to 541 hours on standby and 16 hours and 20 minutes of talk time under a 3G network while the Lumia 920 offers 400 hours on standby and 10 hours for talk time.The differences begin with the weight of the smartphones. The Lumia 928 is lighter at 162 grams to the Lumia 920's 185 grams.
The Lumia 920 is also available in more color options such as black, gray, red, yellow, and white.
Available, at the moment, only in white and black variants, the Lumia 928 is showcased in a new advertisement uploaded on YouTube. The two-minute video has already garnered over 46,500 views within 24 hours.
