Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will launch on both current and next-gen consoles and, as one of the first cross-generational titles, will showcase just what type of graphical leap gamers are in for. Now, in a new video released by Sony, Jean Guesdon, the creative director for the game, and Sylvain Trottier, the game's associate producer, showed off the game running on the PlayStation 4.
The big difference highlighted by the video and the developers is the graphical power of the PlayStation 4. The Ubisoft employees note that the sheer power of the PlayStation 4 and the hardware within it lend itself well to the game, and allows them to put in huge amounts of details into the environment. As the video shows of sailing ships and dense jungles, it really is amazing how crisp and gorgeous everything looks. In particular, the game's main character, Edward Kenway looks fantastic in his fully animated assassin garb.
Jean Guesdon also noted the Share button as an important aspect of the game for the PlayStation 4, stating how it turns the single player game into a more connected experience among players. This will allow friends to see the player's experiences and share in them, without actually having to play together.
The team also discussed the naval missions of the game, and note that players will be able to go from ground to ship to enemy ship without having any sort of loading in between. The producers also claim that players will be able to engage an enemy at sea, weaken their vessel, board that vessel, and then end up finishing the mission on another island.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be out October 29 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC, with the release date for the PlayStation 4 pending an official release date for the system.
