The AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 just received a small over-the-air update.
The 22MB update fixes the lag issues some users have reported, and in general, provides smoother operation for the new phone. Since the release of the Galaxy S4, some users have had to turn off animations due to poor performance. The update seems to fix that, and there are reports that the phone is now using less RAM for day-to-day operations.
Some settings, like auto-rotation, may return to their factory presets, but it shouldn't be anything that can't be switched back, depending on your preferences.
However, the update also breaks root, so users who have already rooted their phones and installed custom ROMs may want to hold off. The phone can simply be rooted again, but that may be too much trouble if you haven't been experiencing any issues with lag.
T-Mobile also has a new update available, though it's a whopping 168MB. It adds improvements to the Visual Voicemail app and upgrades the ISIS app, which enables payments via NFC, so no big changes.
Sprint customers don't yet have a fix for the lag issues, though that is likely in the works now, especially since AT&T customers seem so happy with the new update. Sprint users are already clamoring for their own fix.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 1.6GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor (depending on country), 2GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD AMOLED display at 441 ppi, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, internal storage between 16 and 64GB, an SD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64GB, a polycarbonate body, Smart Pause and floating touch tech and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
