Samsung has just launched the Galaxy S4 smartphone on the Philippines, but they're not wasting anytime in announcing their next products.
According to Yahoo in the Philippines, the Samsung Galaxy Mega has been confirmed and may see a release date of mid-June.
The size of the Galaxy Mega lies between smartphone and tablet territory (also known as "phablet" territory), as it will be available in two sizes: 6.3 inches and 5.8 inches.
Starting with the 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega, the tablet will be LTE-enabled and run on Android Jelly Bean version 4.2. The device's screen utilizes Super Clear LCD and weighs 179 grams. The rear-facing camera will have 8 megapixels while the front-facing camera will have 1.9 megapixels. As for wireless connectivity, it will have Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB 2.0. The internal storage model stands at 8GB with 1.5GB of RAM. A microSD card slot is offered for up to 64GB of additional storage. The battery capacity for the Galaxy Mega 6.3 is 3,200mAh.
Features for the 5.8-inch Galaxy Mega are similar, but it does have its notable differences.
The smaller Galaxy Mega runs on the same Android platform as its 6.3-inch counterpart as well the same wireless connectivity, internal storage, and rear-facing camera specs.
The differences include a QHD TFT display for the 5.8-inch screen and 2 megapixel front-facing camera. In addition, the device weighs more at 182g and has a battery capacity of 2,600mAh.
A price has not been disclosed for both variants of the Galaxy Mega.
