The first footage to Geroge Clooney and Sandra Bullock's new film "Gravity" has arrived.
Entertainment Tonight revealed ten seconds of the trailer that will premiere on Thursday and will most likely appear in front of "The Great Gatsby."
According to the official Synopsis the film tells the story of Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock), a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). On a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone-tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
The film was directed by Alfonso Cuaron and written by him and his brother Jonas. The film was originally set for release in 2012 but due to post-production it was postponed. "Gravity" has been referred to as the new Avatar and is very special effects driven. "Gravity" is rumored to have a 17-minute opening shot and George Clooney has already hyped it as one of the most visually stunning films ever made.
Clooney was last won an Academy Award for producing "Argo," and starred in "The Descendants." Bullock is set to star in "The Heat" this summer. She last appeared in "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" and "The Blind Side."
"Gravity" is the follow up to Cuaron's "Children of Men" which was released in 2006 to rave reviews. He has also directed "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and "Y Tu Mama Tambien."
Warner Bros. Pictures will release "Gravity" in 3D and 2D in select theaters and IMAX on October 4.
