The Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro is making its way down under, and retailers are confirming its prices.
According to WPDownUnder, retailers Harvey Norman and JB Hifi have priced the Surface with Windows 8 Pro at AUS$999 for the 64GB model and AUD$1,099 for the 128GB model.
When converted to the U.S. dollar, the 64GB tablet cost $1,015 while the 128GB tablet will be $1,117. The converted prices are a small increase compared to the $899 for the 64GB model and $999 for the 128GB Surface with Windows 8 Pro.
The two Australian retailers apparently are not planning on stocking up large order. One JB Hifi store reportedly only has 13 units on deck while Harvey Norman placed no orders yet.
The Australian debut of the Surface with Windows 8 Pro is part of Microsoft's current plans. The tablet has been confirmed to debut at the end of the month along with Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
The Surface with Windows RT is already in Australia, as well as over 20 other markets.
As Latinos Post reported, the International Data Corporation (IDC) stated Microsoft shipped 900,000 units of the Surface tablet. The unit figures equate to 1.8 percent of the first-quarter market share for 2013. The percentage presents both Surface with Windows RT and Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets, however, IDC noted most of the shipments were of the latter.
The 1.8 percent is ample to give Microsoft fifth place among the tablet market share behind Apple, Samsung, ASUS, and Amazon, respectively.
