The next Apple mobile operating system is set to make a preview at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference, according to a report.
The WWDC, set for June 10 to 14 in San Francisco, may feature iOS 7, which has apparently gone under major efforts.
According to AllThingsD, sources claimed engineers from the Mac OS X 10.9 team have been assisting in the new iOS plans, a move previously done in 2007.
"Yes, yes - it's essentially a repeat of the iPhone/Leopard scenario," a source said, referencing the 2007 move by Apple to have OS X 10.5 people work on the original iPhone.
"Not as much of a fire drill, though," the sourced added. "It will ship on time."
The move to have OS X people working alongside iOS 7 may have come from Apple Senior Vice President of Industrial Design Jonathon Ive, who is now overseeing the interface design of the mobile platform.
Ive, who joined Apple in 1996, is reportedly for a "flat design" of the next iOS. The Wall Street Journal reported changes to be conservative.
Another report also noted the interface would be "very, very flat," signifying that the mobile platform will be very simplistic.
iOS 7, or at least a preview, may debut at WWDC. According to Apple, over 1,000 Apple engineers will be present for more than 100 technical sessions covering developing, deploying, and integrating technologies utilized by the Cupertino-based company. Tickets to attend the event, however, quickly sold out.
