Newly-proud Samsung Galaxy S4 owners have something to look forward to over the coming months: custom ROMS. Samsung has released firmwares for five Galaxy S4 variants, and the source kernels for three, meaning developers now have access to official coding.
Android 4.2.2 firmwares for Galaxy S4 models GT-I9500 and GT-I9505 are available. Those with the Sprint variant, SPG-L720; the DUOS version, GT-I9502; or the Korean rendition, SHV-E300S, can also pick up their copies of Samsung's build. All five firmwares released are Android 4.2.2 build JDQ39 and run Samsung's Nature UX 2.0 interface.

Interested aftermarket parties seeking a kernel source can nab them here, but only for the GT-I9500, GT-I9505, and SGH-I337M.
Android smartphones are notoriously popular with smartphone owners who like to have more customization available to them than Apple's iOS offers. Custom ROMS take modding to the next level, allowing the user to install unofficial programs and alter the look and feel of the operating system.
While the Galaxy S4 has just released, Samsung has had a track record of making its coding available to the public rather quickly, and it looks like the electronics manufacturer is continuing suit.
As SamMobile succinctly put it, "Now as the official firmwares have been released, it's going to rain custom ROMs and custom kernels for the Galaxy S4."
