Rockstar Games is offering Grand Theft Auto fans the chance to be included in the newest entry of the series, Grand Theft Auto 5. Earlier in the week, Rockstar reactivated the Epsilon Program's Twitter, and now one lucky winner will be able to a part of the game as a member of the cult. Interested gamers can apply on the Epsilon Program website. The contest requires that entrants take a photo of themselves in a well lit room, and should be focused on the head and shoulders of the entrant.
"We recommend that you look straight into the camera and that you do not wear anything that obscures your features such as glasses or a hat"
The lucky winner will be part of the five characters that make up the cult, which is a thinly-veiled parody of Scientology. They follow the made up and ridiculous 12 tenets of Kifflom, which include claiming the world is 157 years old, and happiness can only be obtained through turning over your hands and wallets to the religion. It will be interesting to see how the cult ultimately affects the game, and if the hype surrounding the in-game cult means they will play a prominent role in the game.
It is unclear what role these characters will ultimately play in the game, but perhaps we may get some hint tomorrow when Rockstar releases the new trailer for the game. Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most hotly anticipated games to come out this year, and one of the last blockbuster titles left to come out for the current generation of consoles. While Rockstar Games has been fairly quiet about details about the game, the news about a new trailer and the Epsilon Program indicates that they may be ready to break that silence about the game. Grand Theft Auto 5 will be out September 17 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
