The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 is now available for pre-order from Best Buy, but you'll need to head into a retail store to do it; there's no option for it online yet.

"Best Buy Samsung Galaxy: Pre-order your Samsung Galaxy S4 today with Verizon. In-store only," reads a text message some Verizon customers received from Best Buy on Monday.

The text includes a link to locate Best Buy stores in the vicinity.

Still no word on when exactly the Galaxy S4 will be available from Verizon. Big Red tends to stay out of the competition to be the first carrier to offer a new phone, relying instead on its broad user base and marketing muscle to ensure that a slow and steady sales pace wins in the end. Sure, Verizon loses out on the early adopters who are happy to jump ship to be the first to sang the Galaxy S4, but Verizon recently lengthened the wait before its customers are eligible for an upgrade discount on a new phone.

While the other major carriers unveil the Galaxy S4 this week (some AT&T customers have already received their phones, thanks to friendly and speedy postal workers), Verizon will have the Galaxy S4 in stock sometime in May. Previous rumors say May 30, but it's likely Verizon is hedging its bets, and perhaps waiting until it can get a supply of S4 devices running the Exynos 5 Octa. Worth the wait?

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 1.6GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor (depending on country), 2GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD AMOLED display at 441 ppi, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, internal storage between 16 and 64GB, an SD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64GB, a polycarbonate body, Smart Pause and floating touch tech and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
