Dishonored's first piece of story DLC has been officially released. It's titled The Knife of Dunwall, and follows Daud, the leader of the assassin cabal known as The Whalers, and killer of the Empress.
As players are taking on the role of Daud instead of Corvo, the DLC features a slightly different arsenal of gadgets, weapons, and powers.
Similar to Corvo, Daud has supernatural powers given to him by the Outsider. His Blink ability functions much like the original, only now it completely stops time while you aim it. This allows you to leap and activate Blink in the middle of the jump to give you some extra height. Additionally, Daud's Void Gaze now illuminates Runes and Bone Charms.
New powers include Summon Assassin, which calls a Whaler in to help with the fight. Daud can upgrade the powers of the summoned assassin, as well as gain the ability to share his own abilities with the companion.
New gadgets include Choke Gas, a grenade like item that causes enemies to become dazed and disoriented in a small area; and Arc Mines, traps that zap unsuspecting enemies into dust, leaving no bodies behind.
The DLC's storyline takes place in parallel with Corvo's, following Daud as he seeks redemption for the murdered Empress by following the Outsider's mysterious clue: find Delilah. It takes place in the Flooded District from the base game, as well as the previously unseen Legal District and the Rothchild Slaughterhouse and surrounding area.
The Knife of Dunwall is the first of two DLC packs that will focus on Daud. The second, titled The Brigmore Witches, will be available at a later date. The Knife of Dunwall is currently available on all platforms for $9.99 on the PC and PlayStation 3, and 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360.
