The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 signup page has gone live, and eager consumers can get notifications about the upcoming availability of Samsung's flagship phone on the Verizon website.
Still no word on an exact release date, but Verizon previously tweeted that the Galaxy S4 will be available sometime in May. Other sources say it will be May 30, but it's quite possible Verizon will try to get the phone out sooner.
T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T unveil the Galaxy S4 next week, so Verizon is the only major U.S. carrier that isn't competing to be the first to offer it, and it remains the only one without a concrete release date.
This mirrors last year's release of the Galaxy S3, when T-Mobile and Sprint offered the new phone first, followed a week later by AT&T and a week after that from Verizon.
While the other carriers are offering deals to early adopters, Verizon actually seems less inclined to snag new customers or entice current customers to renew their contracts with the new phone. Verizon recently announced customers will need to wait a full 24 months before being eligible for an upgrade discount on a new phone, and that comes after the company instated new fees for upgrading and cut the discount for renewal.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 1.6GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor (depending on country), 2GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD AMOLED display at 441 ppi, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, internal storage between 16 and 64GB, an SD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64GB, a polycarbonate body, Smart Pause and floating touch tech and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
