Fans waiting for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain may have a new distraction while they wait for both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes to be released. It appears that a new collection of Metal Gear Solid games is slated to appear sometime soon from Konami.
Series creator Hideo Kojima tweeted an image of what appears to be a video game box art or poster, featuring the many different versions of Solid Snake, from the original Metal Gear Solid to Peace Walker. This could mean that Konami is going to put out a collection of most of the games in the series, dating all the way back to the original PlayStation. Further adding to this rumor is a listing on the Korean Game Ratings Board (which can be seen on NeoGAF) which lists a Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection. While Konami has yet to officially announce anything, it may seem as though that fans will be able to get their hands on a massive collection of Metal Gear Solid games sometime in the future.
It is unclear if and when this Legacy Collection will come out, just as it is unclear when the games that will make up Metal Gear Solid 5 will be released. The next entry in the storied franchise, Metal Gear Solid 5 will consist of two separate games. One game, Ground Zeroes will serve as a prequel to the other game, The Phantom Pain. The events of Ground Zeroes will serve as an explanation of why Big Boss is in a nine-year coma at the beginning of The Phantom Pain, which was seen in the trailer video seen during the Game Developers Conference.
Whatever Hideo Kojima was teasing with his tweet, it has fans clamoring to find out more. Having HD or special editions of previous games, especially older games such as the original Metal Gear Solid would be a welcome addition to any hardcore Metal Gear Solid fan's collection.
