Legend of Zelda fans will be busy this year, as Nintendo has several titles in production for the series, including a couple of re-releases for the 3DS. The big title in development is an untitled sequel to the legendary game Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past. The sequel will be appearing for the 3DS.
This sequel to the 1991 SNES game would predominantly feature a top-down perspective, however Link will also have the ability to turn into a drawing and slide across walls; how this factors into the story, however, has yet to be revealed. Nintendo plans to release a video on their eShop detailing how exactly this mechanic will effect the perspective of the game. The game is slated for a holiday release.
Nintendo also announced that the popular Legend of Zelda games Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, originally for the GameBoy Color will soon become available on the eShop. These titles, originally developed by Capcom and not Nintendo, will become available May 30.
Fans of the series without a 3DS can look forward to at least other titles coming to the Wii U sometime in the future. One is a HD remake of the Gamecube title Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. The other is a brand-new Zelda game for the Wii U, though details about this game are few.
Though there are a lot of remakes of the series on the way, most fans are surely more interested in the sequel to Link to the Past, as that game is often cited as one of the best games of all time, let alone best game in the whole series. While some Zelda titles for handheld systems can be a mixed bag, the game has the potential to be a must-buy for all 3DS owners.
