EA has officially confirmed that FIFA 14 will be out later this year, and also revealed a few details about the game. The game is due for a fall release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. While no mention of next-gen consoles or handheld systems were mentioned, EA declared that they will announce additional platforms for the game as the release date gets closer, according to Gamespot.
One of the most exciting changes to the franchise is the Pure Shot feature. Pure Shot is a new feature that will account for off-balanced and rushed shots, and will allow players to adjust their stride and angle of attack towards the goal. The physics engine for the actual ball has also been updated, allowing for a more realistic experience. In addition, the AI of the game has also been improved, and sprinting has also been revamped, allowing users to maintain their momentum while changing direction and allows for more touches when going at full speed. The final new gameplay feature mentioned is entitled Protect the Ball, which gives players more options while dribbling the ball when they are confronted by defenders.
For the game's online and career modes, the FIFA Ultimate Team mode will be updated, along with the general online mode as well. the Football Club social tracker will return to the game. The career mode will be getting a facelift, with a new hub that will allow a global network of talent scouts to recruit new players to a club.
While FIFA 14 does not have an official release date, traditionally the games have come out during the month of September. EA may be waiting until a big conference, such as E3, before revealing the other platforms that will be getting the game. In addition, if the game is to show up on next-gen consoles, they may wait even longer before the game is confirmed for either the PlayStation 4 or next-gen Xbox.
