Injustice: Gods Among Us is the newest fighting game from NetherRealm Studios, the company that brought us the latest Mortal Kombat game. Injustice comes out April 16. for the Xbox 360, Wii U, and PlayStation 3, and features a host of DC characters slugging it out in epic fashion. The game has a large roster of characters, both heroes and villains, and promises to be the game comic book fans have been waiting for for quite some time.
So far, 24 characters have been confirmed for Injustice: Gods Among Us, with more expected once DLC is announced for the game. While some members of the game are not surprising, given their legendary status (Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker), some may not be as well known to casual comic book fans, such as Killer Frost, Ares, and Black Adam. While there may be some major characters missing, such as Brainiac, DLC will most likely address these issues. The full list of confirmed characters can be found here.
The game also promises to have several interactive environments from various DC comic locals, such as Metropolis and Gotham. Players will be able to use the environment against players, launching special attacks related to each character. These environments also promise to be multi-tiered, so fights may start in one area and end up up somewhere else completely.
The game will have a T rating, so bloody, Mortal Kombat-like Fatalities are not going to be available, but each character will have special moves reflective of their moveset. For example, while gadget-based heroes like Batman might use batarangs and other tricks, power-based characters like Superman will literally be able to throw objects like cars in the environment around.
In addition to the game, DC is putting out a prequel comic book detailing the events that lead up to the game.
