Samsung, along with most tech watchers, has its sights set firmly on the upcoming Galaxy S4 launch, but that doesn't mean the company isn't churning ideas behind its closed doors. According to a new report, Samsung is concerned about the flak it has gotten for choosing a plastic casing for the Galaxy S4, and could be opting for a metal casing on the Galaxy Note 3.

The report comes via SamMobile, who is claiming its "famous insider" as the source of the information. Apparently, the praise for the HTC One's aluminum casing, along with the negative press about the Galaxy S4's plastic casing, has Samsung exploring a metal casing for the Galaxy Note 3 in order to improve its build quality. It seems that a metal casing for the Galaxy S4 was a popular idea within the company, but due to production restraints was scrapped. In their opinion, if the report is to be believed, it's better to have more devices available for purchase, rather than choose to give up shipments because of supply holdups.

As with most pre-release leaks, this one has not been confirmed by Samsung, who is still busy promoting other devices such as the Galaxy Mega. The Galaxy Note 3, if it follows a fall launch schedule like its predecessors, still has a ways to go before hitting the market, so only time will tell if it comes with a metal casing.

The Galaxy Note 3 is rumored to sport a 6-inch 1080p "flexible" display, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and LTE capabilities. It should ship with Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa eight-core processor, and run the latest version of Android at the time of its release, Android 5.0 or higher. The Galaxy Note 3, like the Galaxy Note 2, is expected to come equipped with even more cutting-edge, unique features that won't be found on the Galaxy S4. Expect S Pen improvements as well.

Some expect the Galaxy Note 3 to hit retail stores' shelves in September.
