Ubisoft is planning to put out a version of Assassin's Creed 4:Black Flag onto the next-gen Xbox, according to some information on employees LinkedIn profiles.
Paolo Maninetti, a gameplay programmer, and Phil Brolles, a marketing artist, both worked on the game for Ubisoft, and have Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag as coming to the "X720," a fairly obvious reference to one of the working titles for the next-gen Xbox. The resumes also indicated that Watch Dogs would also be coming to the next-gen Xbox as well. Currently, the only next-gen console Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is confirmed for is the PlayStation 4. PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of the game also slated to come out.
This news is hardly surprising, considering that Ubisoft had said that the game would be coming to next-gen consoles, not just a console, so it was never going to just for the PlayStation 4. Indeed, the most likely reason this news had not be confirmed already is that Microsoft is continuing to remain secretive about their next-gen console, and Ubisoft is expected to do the same until Microsoft officially announces the system.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag went through a long period of speculation concerning leaked information about the game, much like Microsoft currently is going through with their next-gen Xbox. Ubisoft has indicated that they will continue making serial releases of Assassin's Creed games until fan interest runs low, so it would make sense for the game to come to the next-gen Xbox to drum up even more interest in the game. The game is set to take place in the Caribbean in the early 17th century and has caused some controversy over the whaling aspect of the game. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will arrive on current gen consoles in October, with no release date set on next-gen consoles.
