Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is getting a new set of DLC today, entitled Jetstream. Players will now be able to play as character Samuel Rodriguez and explore his origins and character more thoroughly. Players will be able to buy this DLC on the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network for either 800 Microsoft Points, or about $10.
As described by Konami (via IGN), Sam is:
"...a lone swordsman who brought terror and chaos to the underworld in Latin America. After slashing through the world's outlaws as a part of his training, Sam arrives in Denver, Colorado. Players can find out what happens when he challenges 'World Marshall' to test his skills. At last, the hidden story behind Raiden's popular rival will be revealed."
Samuel Rodriguez was the main story's antagonist, so playing as him should give new insight into the motivations and what made him the character he was in the game. Konami is also planning a third piece of DLC for the game, in which players will be able to play as Blade Wolf, the robotic dog with knives and guns that assists Samuel throughout the main game. This DLC is expected sometime in May, though an exact date is still unknown.
A previous DLC gave players several new Virtual Reality missions for series protagonist Raiden, but it was only available for PlayStation 3 owners in the United States (but available on the Xbox 360 in the rest of the world). No word if and when Xbox 360 owners would be able to download this first set of DLC, but playing as the mighty Samuel Rodriguez should be enough pretty enticing for Xbox 360 owners.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengence was met with critical and commercial success upon its release in February.
