March is now in the books, and Apple's App Store has had some interesting titles top the month's paid app chart. From social media to games both old and new, this last month offered a wide variety of apps that stuck a chord with iPhone users.

The number one top-selling app is WhatsApp Messenger, a social media tool that allows users to message each other in a wide variety of ways. The app allows people to share texts, photos, voice messages, and videos to each other for free, once they buy the app for 99 cents. Whatsapp Messenger has quickly gained a following, and has been highly rated among users ,

Sitting at number two on the charts is Temple Run: Oz, the latest spinoff from the popular endless-runner series. Players run, jump, and even navigate a hot air balloon though a new environment as they are chased by the flying monkeys from the movie. While some may blast this app's lack of originality, it has proven to be as much as a hit as the the previous games in the series, even though it costs 99 cents.

Number three on the list is Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Despite being $6.99, the game has proven to be a runaway hit on mobile devices, as players explore and build their world however they see fit. Minecraft continues to be a runaway success on every platform it comes to, and the iPhone is no exception.

What's the Phrase, the latest word game from Zynga, is number four on the paid charts, with users having to shelling out 99 cents to play ad-free. The game has once again proven to be a hit for the company famous for games such as Words With Friends. Players are asked to complete a phrase before their opponent does.

Finally, Plague Inc, the game that asks players to build the ultimate plague and wipe out humanity, returns to the charts after releasing a new update during March. The game has been a success for some time now, and continues to add new players as time goes on.
