BlackBerry has typically catered to business customers, and plenty of the earliest adopters of the BlackBerry Z10 have been people who use the phone for work.
That can involve a lot of travel, and now some passengers can get free in-flight Wi-Fi service on their BlackBerry devices.
BlackBerry has partnered with Delta Airlines and the internet service Gogo to offer free internet to passengers using a BlackBerry. To access the free internet, simply turn on the browser on a BlackBerry while on a Delta flight (after the flight attendant says it's okay to use electronic devices, of course).
That's all there is to it; no longing in, no passwords, no corporate accounts or prepaid vouchers.
Ultimately this isn't a huge bargain, as in-flight Wi-Fi is getting cheaper, with some airlines even offering it for free to some or all passengers. It probably won't get anyone to switch to a Delta flight (especially business customers who likely have little choice in selecting an airline) or pick up a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, but it's a nice perk in a situation that often requires juggling several different kind of tech and a few different accounts, not to mention the annoying charges and fees.
Some people simply can't (or won't) go dark while they're in the air, so more options is always better, at least until the Federal Communications Commission lets everyone use their mobile phones on flights, which could be a ways off. Any chance your wireless signal reaches 36,000 feet?
