Samsung is updating all models of their Galaxy S2 to Android 4.1.2 in India, allowing users to access some of the latest smartphone features available on the market today. The phone, which has been available for over two years, is not expected to get any other major upgrades, though a step up to 4.2.2 is not outside the realm of possibility.

Users in India will be able to receive the update over the air, or through Samsung's KIES software.

The update to Android 4.1.2 is pretty massive, with several new features like Google Now, a cornucopia of Project Butter enhancements for your phone, Smart Stay, pop-up play, and Direct Call being installed onto the handset. All of these will become available on a brand-new user interface, the Nature UX. Users are encouraged to plug in their phones while updating, as the update is very large and sucks up a lot of battery life while downloading.

While users in America may be disappointed that another region is getting the Android 4.1.2 upgrade for their Galaxy S2's before them (users in Korea, Canada, and most of Europe already have the update), however, this may indicate that the update will be heading to the country soon. After all, with all these countries getting Android 4.1.2, it is only a matter of time before the United States begins seeing the update roll out on various carriers.

With Samsung doing so much in preparation for the Galaxy S4, having the company make sure that older model phones still get upgraded and taken care of is surely a good sign for users. We shall see when Samsung begins rolling out updates for the Galaxy S2 in America, hopefully in the near future.
