More good news for Verizon globetrotters: the version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 released through the carrier will have global roaming capabilities, according to documents from the Federal Communications Commission.
"An FCC filing for the SCH-I545, which is most likely the model number for Verizon's Galaxy S4 considering that SCH-I535 is the model number for Verizon's current Galaxy S3, says the device will support the 700MHz LTE band (Band 13) right alongside Verizon's 1700MHz AWS frequencies (Band 4)," Android Authority writes. "We're also looking at GSM and WCDMA support (850MHz and 1900MHz bands)."
Earlier this week we heard that the Sprint version will, too, making the Galaxy S4 a top choice for customers who do a lot of traveling overseas. Of course, you'll need to pay exorbitant roaming fees or somehow get the major carriers to unlock your phone first.
There's always the T-Mobile option; the smaller carrier will unlock your phone as soon as you pay it off, which could be Day 1 if you're willing to shell out enough cash.
While there's no word on a release date, pre-order schedule or price from Verizon, it's likely it will be similar to AT&T, which is opening pre-orders on Apr. 16 for $250 with a two-year contract. The final release will probably be somewhere around May 1, though only T-Mobile has confirmed that date. It will have the S4 available for $99 down and $20 per month.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 1.6GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor (depending on country), 2GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD AMOLED display at 441 ppi, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, internal storage between 16 and 64GB, an SD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64GB, a polycarbonate body, Smart Pause and floating touch tech and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
