Several different sources have commented that Valve is working on something interesting, and those sources have implied that the company could finally be ready to reveal Half-Life 3 soon to the public.
David Goldfarb, the lead designer of Battlefield 3, has said that he has had a meeting with Valve, and saw some interesting things while there. When pushed by a member of Mojang, Marcus Persson, on Twitter if that meant Half-Life 3 was confirmed, Goldfarb replied with a rather cryptic "my silence must be interpreted as silence..."
Although nothing of real substance, some solace can be taken in the fact that it was not a denial "NO."
Dave Oshry of Interceptor Entertainment has also confirmed meeting with Valve as well, and he also says he saw something incredibly exciting from the company.
"I did have an awesome meeting with Valve and @ApogeeSoftware yesterday and look forward to telling you all about it SOON," he said.
These rather mysterious tweets are being taken by many as some sort of confirmation that Half-Life 3 is in the works, although nothing official has been confirmed and they could simply be referring to other Valve projects. Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is one possibility, and would be the big news coming from Valve, as the last episode ended with a massive cliffhanger. Of course, the company could always be working on a new IP instead of continuing Half-Life for the moment, and let's not forget the so-called "Steam Box," the company's first foray into the console market.
Because the meetings were with several different companies, all of which are smaller, indie developers, there's a good chance this meeting was about Valve's upcoming console. After all, the company will need new games to put onto Steam to build up even more interest in the home console as the next generation of the PlayStation and Xbox consoles come out later this year. Hopefully Valve reveals what they are working on soon.
