The latest iOS 6 update has triggered battery drainage issues among several iPhone customers following the latest mobile operating system upgrade.
As found in Apple Support Communities, member and iPhone 4S owner Timurjonchik explained his battery issues.
"Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and I've been using iPhones since the first one. I miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung [Galaxy] S4," Timurjonchik said.
Since the original posting, fellow Apple device owners shared their stories. Additional replies state the sound function has since been "broken," how it has occurred on the iPhone 5, and a few naming their carriers as AT&T.
"I'm having the same problem. I had to charge my phone TWICE yesterday and I hardly used it," angelbyte wrote.
"My phone was also dead after significant drainage of battery since the update to iOS 6.1.3. It's so irritating me. What's wrong with you, Apple? Fix it as soon as possible," tooduri added.
Wait no longer, as a solution was provided, courtesy of fellow Apple Support Communities member Markbob917.
1. Go to settings.
2. Mail, contacts, calendars.
3. Go into iCloud and turn all switches to OFF one by one make sure you save all to iPhone though not just delete.
4. Then go to each other mail account and repeat this procedure again making sure you select keep on iPhone not the delete option.
5. Once they're all turned to off check your calendar to see if everything is missing off it and then you need to do a hard reset by holding the home button and the on/off button until the phone turns itself off.
6. Once it's come back on go back into settings and mail and turn each switch (or each you want) back to ON.
7. Then make sure all your apps are closed lock the phone and leave it for 30 mins and then check the battery hopefully if like mine it shouldn't of dropped at all.
The original poster, Timurjonchik, has tested the before mentioned solution.
"Yeah it worked now. You just have to wait. I just expected Apple wouldn't allow this kind of mistakes," he wrote.
More community members have since given gratitude to Markbob917, detailing their test and ultimately success stories.
