Samsung's Galaxy Tab devices will receive the next Android update soon.
According to SamMobile, a source stated the South Korean-based company will update the Galaxy Tab 2 with Android version 4.1.2. There is further good and bad news with the Galaxy Tab 2. Samsung will continue to update the Galaxy Tab 2 with Android version 4.2.2 but that will be that last Android update the Samsung device will get.
The SamMobile source noted that the updates for the Galaxy Tab 2 may be done before the end of September.
Meanwhile, the first generation of the Galaxy Tab might also get an Android update. The update will depend on Jelly Bean testing on the Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 processor. Samsung will conduct the tests.
Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware testing is also underway for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab Plus.
The Galaxy Tab 2 currently has two variants, the 7-inch and 10.1-inch models.
The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has 1,024x600 pixels and 170 pixels per inch (ppi). While the seven-inch tablet has a microSD card slot for up to 32GB, it holds 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB internal storage with 1GB of RAM. A rear-facing camera is included with 3.15 megapixels and 2,048x1,536 pixels. The battery capacity is 4,000mAh for up to 1,080 hours on standby under a 3G network.
The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has 1,280x800 pixels and 149 pixels per inch (ppi). While the 10.1-inch tablet has a microSD card slot for up to 32GB, but for only 16GB and 32GB internal storage with 1GB of RAM. The rear-facing camera has the same specifications as the seven-inch tablet. The battery capacity is 7,000mAh for up to 2,000 hours on standby.
