Last week, a leaked list showed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 would be released in countries with LTE networks featuring a 1.9 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.

Countries without (or with limited LTE) networks were slated to receive 1.6 GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processors, as the newer chips may have compatibility issues with LTE tech.

But now ETNews says a full 70 percent of the first 10 million Galaxy S4s will come with Snapdragons.

Mass production of Exynos 5 Octas isn't slated until the second quarter of this year, after the Galaxy S4 is expected to hit shelves worldwide. In order to fill demand, which is expected to be extremely high, Samsung is opting to use its large stock of Snapdragons in the first batch of phones.

Some retailers say preorders for the Galaxy S4 are already four times higher than they were for its predecessor, the Galaxy S III, which became the most popular smartphone in the world and the first in history to outsell the iPhone.

So far there are no benchmarks available comparing the two processors, so if the Exynos 5 is actually faster than the Snapdragon, it may not be by much. There is some speculation that its lower clock speed could make it more resistant to overheating.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 1.6 GHz eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor or a 1.9 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor (depending on country), 2 GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD AMOLED display at 441 ppi, a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video, a 2 megapixel front facing camera, internal storage between 16 and 64 GB, an SD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64 GB, a polycarbonate body, Smart Pause and floating touch tech and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
