Double Fine, the studio headed by legendary game designer Tim Schafer, has announced that the game previously called Double Fine Adventure is now dubbed Broken Age, and the studio offered new details about the Kickstarter-funded game.
Broken Age will follow the story of two characters, a young boy and girl, who lead parallel lives. The girl has been chosen for sacrifice to a monster, but decides to fight against this fate. Meanwhile, the boy lives in a futuristic house under protection from a motherly computer, but he wishes he could explore the outside world. Players will switch between the two characters as the game progresses. The game will play out in classic point and click style, made famous by games such as The Secret of Monkey Island.
The game will come in two different packages for the PC, Mac, and Linux systems. The basic $15 dollar package offers a DRM- free version of the game to users. the Backer Access version of the game will give users exclusive access to forums, developmental materials, and content for the documentary series about the creation of the game. Users will also get a copy of the games soundtrack, all for $30.
Both versions of the game will allow players who preorder the game access to the beta of the game. No mention yet of when the game is slated to come out. The game initially raised over $3 million dollars on Kickstarter, with 87,000 backers pledging money to the game. Broken Age promises to be a unique and interesting game when it comes out.
