When Street Fighter X Tekken came out last year, we were also promised that the second crossover game, Tekken X Street Fighter, would also be out fairly soon. However, nothing much has come from the fighting game until now.
It now appears that the game may appear on next-gen consoles, according to a Tweet producer Katsuhiro Harada has sent to a fan. In it Harada said of the game that the company was "changing & considering platform strategy." This implies that the company might we working on porting the game to next-gen consoles as well as the current console generations. It could even mean that Tekken X Street Fighter may only appear on the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox. Until we know more or hear an official announcement from the Tekken team, the fate of the title is up in the air.
It is strange that Harada would reverse his stance on this current generation, considering he has spoken up about keeping Tekken X Street Fighter on current consoles. In an discussion with IGN in July 2012 Harada gave the following statement concerning where the game would end up:
"There's still a large number of players out there with a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 who are looking forward to the game, so we feel it's probably more relevant to get the title out to them on the current hardware. We're not completely sure, but that's the direction at this moment."
It looks like much has changed in that time frame for the game. In the meantime, fans of the fighting game should still expect the game to come out for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. With the smashing success of the first crossover game, players can expect a quality fighting game on whatever platforms the game comes out on.
